CAR Approves Commercial Supplemental Application for Servicing Carriers & ERPs

    Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers (CAR) has approved the use of a supplemental application for Servicing Carriers to collect general risk information for all commercial risks (See CAR Bulletin #1103); and updated the Manual of Administrative Procedures to identify Servicing Carrier and Exclusive Representative Producer and responsibilities with regard to the supplemental application (See CAR Bulletin #1104). 

    CAR Bulletin No. 1103: Commercial Supplemental Application

    At its June 17, 2020 meeting, CAR’s Governing Committee unanimously voted to approve the use of a supplemental application for Servicing Carriers to collect general risk information for all commercial risks, as well as additional ownership, usage and garaging information for public transportation and trucking risks. The supplemental application is required to be completed for all commercial new business policies and, at the discretion of the Servicing Carrier, may also be requested for renewal policies.

    The supplemental application is comprised of three sections:

    • A General Risk Information section,
    • A Public Automobile Information addendum, and
    • A Trucker/Motor Carrier Information addendum.

    Exclusive Representative Producers (ERPs) must assure the completion of the General Risk Information section of the supplemental application by all commercial risks. Additionally, based upon the risk’s type of operation, the Public Automobile Information addendum and/or the Trucker/Motor Carrier Information addendum of the application must be completed by the risk….
