CAR’s MAIP Steering Committee Votes to Amend Rules 21–33 & 36–39

    In Bulletin 1082, Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers (CAR) announced their vote to amend the following CAR Rules of Operation, which define the policies and procedures by which Members, Assigned Risk Companies, and Assigned Risk Producers are governed with regard to the operation of, and participation in, the Massachusetts Automobile Insurance Plan (MAIP):

    Rule 23 – Member Obligations

    Rule 24 – Governing Committee

    Rule 25 – MAIP Officers

    Rule 26 – Policyholder Rights and Responsibilities

    Rule 27 – Coverages

    Rule 28 – Application Process

    Rule 29 – Assignment Process

    Rule 30 – Assigned Risk Company Requirements

    Rule 31 – Assigned Risk Producer Requirements

    Rule 32 – Claim Practices

    Rule 33 – Statistical Data

    Rule 36 – Limited Assignment Distribution Agreements

    Rule 37 – Commissions

    Rule 38 – Terminations

    Rule 39 – Indemnification

     

    CAR’s MAIP Steering Committee undertook a review of the MAIP Rules in their entirety with the primary objective of eliminating obsolete references. Additional modifications are editorial in nature and intended to ensure consistency of terminology throughout the document.
