7D Vehicle Registration Requirements

Posted by MAIA on June 23, 2020

Effective immediately, two changes have been made to the registration requirements for School Pupil Transport (7D) vehicles.

    1. 7D vehicles must have a 10,000 pound or less gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Any vehicle with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more falls under the Federal Motor Carrier and must meet all commercial vehicle requirements, including for the driver.
    2. The seating capacity must not exceed 10 passengers plus the driver. The driver is not counted within the 10 passengers and the removal of seats does not bring the vehicle into compliance.
