RMV: New Special Plate - Habitat and Heritage

    The Habitat and Heritage plate is a new two-year passenger special (PAS) plate.  Proceeds from this plate will fund the Sportsmen’s National Land Trust, Massachusetts Chapter, Inc.  All pre-ordered plates have been delivered to RMV Service Centers.  After the pre-ordered plates have been distributed, a general supply will be delivered to all service centers to be issued to any customers who request them.  In addition, the Habitat and Heritage plate will soon be available for order on the RMV’s website (www.mass.gov/rmv).

    Plate Design

    The Habitat and Heritage plate features an image of a deer’s head and the words “Habitat & Heritage – Sportsmen’s Land Trust” at the bottom of the plate.

    Fees

    The total fee for the Habitat and Heritage plate is $100 ($60 registration fee plus $40 special plate fee).  The special plate fee disbursement is as follows.

    • $28 goes to Sportsmen’s National Land Trust, Massachusetts Chapter, Inc.
    • $12 goes to MassDOT for manufacturing the plate

    Upon renewal, the full $40 special plate fee goes to Sportsmen’s National Land Trust, Massachusetts Chapter, Inc.

    Renewal

    The plates need to be renewed every two years.

    Habitat and Heritage plates are passenger special (PAS) type.

    Pre-Ordered Plates

    Many customers have already pre-ordered Habitat and Heritage plates.  These plates are being shipped to service centers and letters will soon be mailed to these customers.  These letters tell the customer what service center they should visit to pick up their plates.
