SPECIAL UPDATE! Massachusetts Extends Insurance Licenses Through End of 2020

Posted by MAIA on October 7, 2020

There has been some confusion about license extensions due to COVID-19, and today (Wed., October 7, 2020) the MA Division of Insurance (DOI) issued Bulletin 2020-29 that clarifies the situation. The Bulletin states that all MA insurance licenses that were in good standing as of March 10, 2020, will remain in effect through December 31, 2020. However, individual insurance licensees must satisfy their Continuing Education (CE) obligations AND renew their license on or before December 31, 2020 to remain in good standing.

You may read the full Bulletin here:

     Other Important Takeaways:

    • The DOI is accepting renewal applications electronically through the National Insurance Producer Registry (com) or by mail to the Division’s office.
    • Licenses that are scheduled to expire on or after January 1, 2021, are NOT eligible for extension and must be renewed by the original expiration date.
    • Questions regarding licensing matters should be addressed to the Division’s Producer Licensing Unit at mailbox@mass.gov or 617-521-7794.
